First starting out as a dishwasher for her sister's restaurant, she eventually began serving as a waitress during her senior year of high school. Following a period in which she pursued other interests, Ms. Lenington eventually returned to the restaurant industry alongside her sister. Ms. Lenington later opened her own restaurant with business partner James Martin, who recognized her talents as a business owner and desired to help her cultivate greater success. She was co-owner and manager of the 4-Star Diner alongside Martin for a period of six years before branching out and opening her very own restaurant. In 2021, Sherry's Farmhouse Kitchen held its grand opening in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The restaurant is thriving in the community, and Ms. Lenington is immensely proud of escalating through the ranks to developing her own business, particularly after facing a variety of challenges early on in her career. She attributes her success to the influence of her sister, Carolyn Whitmire, who initially introduced her to the culinary management industry, as well as her own sense of determination. She also credits her many mentors for her success. As a testament to her success, Ms. Lenington has been featured in local media, such as newspaper articles including the Sequoyah County Times. Additionally, she earned a Certificate of Good Standing through the State of Oklahoma in 2020. Over the course of her career, she has maintained affiliation with her local Chamber of Commerce. Looking toward the future, she intends to grow and thrive with Sherry's Farmhouse Kitchen, introducing more local patrons to her delicious menu while steadily increasing revenue. Ms. Lenington's personality and delicious homestyle dinners have given her the reputation of a local favorite, which will continue as the years goes on.
