259 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS PRESIDENT League of Women Voters of the United States Omaha, NE OWNER Dr. Michele Winchester-Vega and Associates New Windsor, NY DEBORAH ANN TURNER, MD A practitioner of gynecologic oncology for more than 35 years, Dr. Deborah Ann Turner is a former health care professional and current president of the League of Women Voters of the United States. Serving as president since 2020, she has concurrently excelled as the associate medical director of Planned Parenthood of North Central States since 2016, where she teaches medical students and residents at various universities, and has sat on the national board of directors of the League of Women Voters since 2016. Earlier in her career, Dr. Turner served the Medical College of Wisconsin, Genesis Medical Center, Mercy Cancer Center and Mercy Medical Center, among other health care facilities. Drawing upon an MD from the University of Iowa, Dr. Turner completed a residency in obstetrics-gynecology and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology. Several years later, she expanded upon her expertise and received a JD from Drake University in 2007. Dr. Turner was inducted into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame in 2013 and received the 2015 Gertrude Rush Award from the National Bar Association and the 2018 Visionary Women of the Year Award from the Young Women’s Resource Center. An expert in clinical social work and employee stress solutions programs, Dr. Michele Winchester-Vega is the owner of Dr. Michele Winchester-Vega and Associates, an outpatient mental health practice. She commenced her career as a staff social worker in outpatient mental health and addiction programs in Orange County, New York, and as an adjunct professor at Orange County Community College and SUNY New Paltz. She became director of clinical training for Pius XII Youth and Family Services prior to becoming assistant professor at Yeshiva University. She also served on the Council of Social Work Women’s Commission and co-authored “Chicken Little, Come Out! The Sky Is Not Falling: Helping Children Express and Cope with Their Anxiety.” Drawing upon a BA from SUNY New Paltz, MSW from Columbia University and DSW from Yeshiva University, Dr. Winchester-Vega has been coined “The Million Dollar Woman” for her volunteerism and philanthropy to others by helping to raise over $2 million for charities and nonprofits. She has served on many nonprofit boards, including the Eleanor Roosevelt Center, and has been awarded the National Association of Social Work Hudson Valley Division’s Lifetime Achievement Award and an Athena Award.
