He followed this with a JD from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in 2002. Following his receipt of his juris doctorate, Mr. Valenzuela served the Puerto Rico Department of Justice in a myriad of capacities, including as a civil litigator from 2003 to 2006, the director of legal affairs from 2006 to 2009, and an assistant solicitor general from 2009 until his departure in 2011. Since 2011, he has excelled as an attorney with the eponymously named Valenzuela Alvarado, LLC. Outside of his primary legal endeavors, Mr. Valenzuela authored the book “Courtroom Confessions” in 2020, which he considers among the highlights of his career. The book discusses a civil case he won before a jury while arguing for the defendant. Available on Amazon.com, “Courtroom Confessions” was written in Spanish and later translated into English. Additionally, Mr. Valenzuela is especially proud of being a U.S. immigrant and attaining success despite the obstacles he has faced along the way. A member of the Puerto Rico Lawyers Association, Mr. Valenzuela has also served as a legal and political analyst for “Sistema TV Informa,” a Puerto Rican news program, and “Mi Gente,” a talk show on Canal 13-Tele Oro. To attest to his success, Mr. Valenzuela received a Certificate of Recognition from Congressman Ortiz from the 27th District of Texas in 1998. Looking toward the future, he intends to launch a new business, titled Verbum, which will be a continuing legal education network for students to access remotely and, eventually, through a mobile application. While visiting his father’s native country of Chile when he was 12 years old, Jose-Enrico Valenzuela, Esq., witnessed several violations of civil rights, which troubled him deeply.
