Notably, Coastal Cardiology is located in California and is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. Ms. Benson maintains affiliation with the Society of Nuclear Medicine. She also has served on the clinical board of the American Cancer Society and is a former president of the West Tennessee Organization of Nuclear Medicine Technologists, a role she held in 1979. Ms. Benson received the Employee of the Year Award from Twin Cities Community Hospital in 2000, and she was also honored for outstanding service while serving as president of the West Tennessee Organization of Nuclear Medicine Technologists in 1979. She is especially proud of her tenure with the Twin Cities Community Hospital, in which she leveraged monoclonal antibody imaging and serial scans to identify and treat colon and rectal cancers. Growing up in a family of three generations of medical professionals, Barbara A. Benson was ultimately inspired by her mother, who was a nurse. After witnessing her mother dedicate her time to care for others, Ms. Benson experienced a spark of interest and desired to follow the same path. In 1968, she received an associate degree from Brandywine Junior College (now known as Weidner College), and she later went on to serve several medical centers and private offices. As time progressed, Ms. Benson earned a certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in 1974 and became a certified nuclear medicine technologist in 1975. One decade later, she also became a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. Working for Twin Cities Community Hospital for several decades as a certified nuclear medicine technologist, Ms. Benson has since excelled as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer and a certified nuclear medicine technologist for Coastal Cardiology since 2001.
