WILFRED TING-KEA CHUNG A leader in religious services, Dr. Wilfred Ting-Kea Chung has been pastor emeritus at the Chinese Community Baptist Church of South Orange County since 2019. In the 1980s, he was requested by the El Toro Baptist Church to found a Chinese religious congregation that would have the potential to become an independent church to serve needs of the Chinese American community in Orange County. Establishing a permanent church in 2006, he was a founding member of the Sacramento Chinese Baptist Church for 15 years prior to rejoining the Chinese Community Baptist Church of South Orange County. Dr. Chung is proudest of establishing congregations in South Orange County and Sacramento. He was inspired by his grandfather, Pastor Tai Choo Tse, the first pastor to build a church in Guangdong Province, China. In 2011, Dr. Chung reestablished the church in a farm community. Earning a DMin from the Talbot School of Theology, he was the first National Chinese Ambassador of the North American Mission Board. For the past decade, he has been executive member of the trustee board of Truth Theological Seminary and adjunct professor. He has preached in churches, pastoral conferences and seminaries throughout the nation since 1967. An acclaimed educator with nearly 15 years of experience to her credit, Pamela Day has excelled as a music teacher at Wintergreen Intermediate School in Greenville, North Carolina, since 2021. Having previously spent 13 years serving in the same capacity at Richlands Elementary School between 2008 and 2021, she was notably named Arts Teacher of the Year in 2017 and Elementary Music Educator of the Year in 2021. In addition, Ms. Day maintains affiliation with the North Carolina Music Educators Association to remain abreast of developments in her areas of expertise. Ms. Day holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance and a bachelor’s degree in music education, both from East Carolina University. In 2008, she earned a Master of Music from Louisiana State University. Outside of her academic endeavors, she has performed with numerous groups, including the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Louisiana Philharmonic, the North Carolina Symphony and the Greenville Choral Society. Looking toward the future, Ms. Day intends to leverage her recent accolade as the 2021 Music Educator of the Year to spearhead a platform through which she can further teach students and peers.
