201 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Ounanian maintains membership with the Foundation of the California Medicine Academy, where he was a board member for four years. Likewise, he is a member of his local Elks Club and Phi Beta Kappa. Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Ounanian spends his leisure time with his family, and he also enjoys traveling, skiing, bicycling and working as an amateur radio operator. Married to his wife, Dr. Yolando Leparulo, for many years, they share two children, Steven and Serena. They also have five grandchildren. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ounanian intends to spend as much time as possible with his family while tending to congruent appointments as a physician. Likewise, he would also like to dedicate more time to his hobbies and continue traveling. Notably, during Dr. Ounanian’s time spent at the San Bernardino County Medical Center, former President Barack Obama aided in the establishment of the Health Information Exchange Project in 2012, which greatly influenced Dr. Ounanian and his career path. Although President Obama left office in 2017, the project continued after his departure. Dr. Ounanian served as president of the Health Information Exchange Project for a resounding four years. Among his many career achievements, Dr. Ounanian is especially proud of being afforded the opportunity to practice medicine on a fulltime basis while concurrently performing a host of teaching duties, such as serving as a faculty instructor for residency students, and accepting leadership roles. To this end, he attributes much of his success to his diligent work ethic, as well as his passion for medicine and serving patients throughout his community.
