223 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Initially driven to enter the medical industry due to his innate desire to help others, as well as to learn continuously about several scientific subjects, Dr. Jesse P. Houghton pursued a formal education at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Graduating with a BA in biological sciences and psychology in 1997, he then received his MD from Rutgers Medical School (formerly the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) in 2002. Subsequently, he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in gastroenterology, all at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine. Following his completion of his medical training, Dr. Houghton served as partner at the Medical Associates of Ocean County, a multispecialty physician group in New Jersey, between 2008 and 2012. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Ohio, where he has served as the senior medical director of gastroenterology at the Southern Ohio Medical Center since 2012. Alongside this appointment, Dr. Houghton serves as an adjunct clinical professor of internal medicine at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In light of his success, Dr. Houghton has been recognized among America’s Best Doctors and has further been honored as a Top Doctor by OhioTopDocs and Top Doctor by Castle Connelly. Additionally, he has been highlighted in numerous medical articles and has served on panels as a medical expert for online health companies. To advance the fields of medicine and gastroenterology, he holds memberships in the American Gastroenterology Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology (where he has achieved the honor of Fellow), Crohns and Colitis Foundation, Ohio Medical Association and Scioto County Medical Society. To remain abreast of developments in the industry, he attends one of the major national gastroenterological conferences once to twice annually. Outside of his primary roles, Dr. Houghton enjoys contributing to his community by raising awareness of gastroenterological disorders.
