McCartney is the founder and president of Red Canary Collective, a 501(c)3 organization that was launched in November 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Driven to enhance collaboration among individuals regarding environmental and social justice, Red Canary Collective partners with philanthropists, corporations and foundations to raise voices of marginalized communities, particularly in the indigenous population. Currently, the organization hosts an online magazine to share their wealth of information across the globe. Earlier in her career, Ms. McCartney served in advertising and marketing for 30 years prior to her retirement, including for Questar Customer Experience, Carlson Marketing, Bozell and Martin Communications, Inc. However, in light of the number of global crises during 2020, she endeavored to make positive changes in society to influence future generations, such as her children and grandchildren. She draws upon a BA in journalism and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas. Looking forward, Ms. McCartney intends to further help marginalized communities and reach a global audience. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee FOUNDER, PRESIDENT Red Canary Collective Scottsdale, AZ After immigrating to New York from Tokyo in 1988, Sheba Michiyo Shibahara escalated to the rank of director of the NGO Japanese Cultural Exchange by 1990, a position she still holds today. Among her many career achievements, Ms. Shibahara is especially revered for creating the Japan Day Festival in New York City as a result of the 30th anniversary of the New York-Tokyo sister city friendship under the United Nations’ Sister City program. Likewise, she was responsible for organizing the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden between 1990 and 2000. Alongside her primary endeavors, she has been a member of the United Nations’ NGO committee on substance abuse and international criminal justice since 1997, as well as director of the Martial Arts Academy since 2018. Most recently, she created the international conference to the United Nations’ Kyoto Congress in 2021. Ms. Shibahara received “Thank You” letters from former Mayor David Dinkins and former First Lady Laura Bush. Though she has experienced numerous highlights in her career, she is especially proud of being among the first individuals to speak on national news media about Japanese culture within the United States in the early 1990s.
