Subsequently, he obtained a Fulbright scholarship and traveled to the United States, where he earned a PhD in English from the prestigious Duke University. For more than 50 years, Dr. Chauhan taught at Arcadia University, serving as a professor of English and humanities from 1969 until attaining emeritus status in 2021 at the age of 91. During this time, he also excelled as chairman of the department of English from 1997 to 2005 and as director of graduate studies in English from 1990 to 1996. Among his many career achievements, Dr. Chauhan is especially proud of having the privilege to teach thousands of young students; he notes that he not only taught them the fundamentals of literature, but also how to be a decent human. To attest to his success, Dr. Chauhan received the Distinguished Achievement Award for outstanding service to his profession from the South Asian Review in 2017. A nativeof India,Dr.PradyumnaS.Chauhan first earned a Bachelor of Laws in his home country. However, upon realizing the detrimental effects his profession would have on the underserved families in his community, he decided to transition career paths. Leveraging his love for literature, Dr. Chauhan instead sought to become an educator. Following a three-year tenure in Nepal, where he was recruited to educate students and build a university under a foreign service assignment, he returned to India to formally pursue an education in the humanities. Shortly thereafter, he received a Master of Arts in English language and literature. He also taught at the University of Rajasthan for several years. Following his receipt of his master’s degree, Dr. Chauhan was nominated for the British Council Award from the University of Cambridge. Nonetheless, he declined the accolade, prompting him to look at the larger picture and discover that the British influence over India was swiftly being displaced by the influence of the United States.
