However, through teaching various private music lessons and working as a Sunday school teacher, she desired to enter the field of education. At the inception of her career, Ms. Shadwick served as a CTE educator in various rural and suburban high schools throughout Southern Illinois. Shortly thereafter, she worked for six years at Riverview Gardens Central Middle School as an assistant girls’ basketball coach for three years, as well as a keyboarding teacher. Since 2019, she has continued to excel as a CTE educator at Riverview Gardens High School, where she also previously served in the same capacity from 2005 to 2010. To remain abreast of developments in the field of education, Ms. Shadwick maintains professional alignment with the American Legion, the National Education Association, the Missouri National Education Association, and the Association for Career and Technical Education. Although she has achieved many career highlights, Ms. Shadwick is especially proud to have served in the military for eight years, where she notably was deployed during the Gulf War during the early 1990s. Moreover, she has always enjoyed watching the enlightenment in her students’ eyes when they understand a concept that she has taught them in the classroom. As a testament to her success, Ms. Shadwick was named High School Teacher of the Year by Riverview Gardens in 2010. She credits much of her success to the personal relationships she has cultivated during her tenure in education, as well as the friendships she has forged with her former students. Looking forward, Ms. Shadwick intends to continue serving in her present role and making positive influences on her students. Drawing upon a BS in business administration and a BM inmusic performance, both from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Lieda A. Shadwick also holds an MAT in education technology from Webster University.
