105 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Diversified in several career paths, including consultancy, education and nursing, Jessica A. Steckler serves as the owner and consultant of the Firm of Jessica A. Steckler. After earning a diploma in the Bryn Mawr Hospital’s School of Nursing in the early 1960s, she commenced her career as an instructor of nursing courses at York County Vocational-Technical School, Hamot Medical School and Pennsylvania State University in their Behrend College’s associate degree in nursing program. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Steckler served the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for several years, including as the assistant director of the Cooperative Health Education Center (Lake Area Health Education), chair of the medical ethics team and educational specialist for the Employee Education Systems. Between 2006 and 2010, she was an instructional system specialist. Following this tenure, Ms. Steckler became an appraiser for the Pathway for Excellence Programthrough theAmericanNursesAssociation. Demonstrating versatility in her field, she served as a contributing author to “Transcultural Health Care: A Culturally Competent Approach” alongside Larry D. Purnell and Betty J. Paulanka, which was published in 1997 and its third edition was published in 2007. Additionally, Ms. Steckler has authored several articles for scientific journals. During the early years of her career, Ms. Steckler attained a BSN at Millersville State College in 1971 and an MEd at Gannon University in 1979. Wishing to continue her edification, she was a doctoral candidate in education at Pennsylvania State University in 1992. Throughout her career, she has become certified in staff development and continuing education via the American Nurses Association, as well as certified in medical ethics consultation via the University of West Virginia. For her success, Ms. Steckler earned the William A. Nelson Award for Excellence in Health Care in 2008, having previously been honored in the Erie Hall of Fame. She was also a recipient of two Special Contribution Awards from the Veterans Health Administration, a Customer Service Star Award from the VA Medical Center and a Recognition Award from the National Nursing Staff Development Organization.
