114 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Suzanne Nader developed an interest in teaching when she was a young girl and sought to make a difference in the lives of students. Completing coursework at Siena Heights University and the Mercy College of Detroit, she subsequently earned an elementary teacher’s license in the State of Michigan. After spending a number of years in the field of education, she returned to academia and received a BA and anMA fromEasternMichigan University in 1982 and 1990, respectively. Accruing over 55 years of expertise in education, she retired in 2010 after serving Wayne Westland Schools as a second and third grade teacher beginning in 1998. During her tenure, she implemented visual arts and arts-related curriculum to her classes, as well as served as a private English language tutor for adults. Earlier, Ms. Nader taught fifth grade in a private parochial school and, subsequently, joined the Wayne-Westland School District as a junior high alternative program instructor and substitute teacher, later becoming a second, third and fifth grade classroom teacher. She also thrived with the Willow Run School District, where she taught adult education in the evening program. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EDUCATOR (RETIRED) Wayne Westland Schools Canton, MI Drawing upon four decades of expertise in academia, Dr. Domna C. Stanton has excelled as a distinguished professor in early modern French literature and culture, critical theory, human rights and refugee studies at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York since 2001. Earlier in her career, she served the University of Michigan as an Elizabeth M. Douvan collegiate professor from 1982 to 2000, as well as Barnard College at Columbia University. She received a PhD in French literature from Columbia University in 1969. Impressively, Dr. Stanton was appointed the commissioner of New York City’s Human Rights Commission in 2015 and was the first woman editor of Publications of the Modern Language Association of America, who named her a distinguished editor. Throughout her career, she has exhibited great passion for her field, particularly in 17th century French literature. A prolific writer on French language and literature, as well as feminism and gender studies, she has authored 10 books to date. Looking forward, she intends to commit herself to social justice in the political and social realms while mentoring her students.
