TIPPETT Since 2021, Olivia G. Tippett has excelled as a band and choir director at Greenwood Middle School for Wayne County Public Schools in North Carolina. In her dual roles, she instructs general music classes, as well as band and choir classes, and works in partnership with coaches to provide the best possible service to her students. Concurrent to this role, she also taught at Eastern Wayne High School between January and June of 2021. Previously, Ms. Tippett earned a Bachelor of Music in music education, summa cum laude, from Appalachian State University in 2020, backed by several scholarships. She has also maintained membership of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society. Aspiring to enter music education due to the influence of her own middle school band director, Ms. Tippett was equally inspired by her two older siblings who were also band members. During high school, she worked in choir and orchestra and received a Director’s Award for her success. Looking toward the future, she intends to expand the band program and amend her school’s music programs to advance their efforts. After spending 39 years in the field of academia, Vincent J. Vespe retired following time as an American history teacher at Bergenfield High School, where he was also the chairman of the social studies department. He cites his most notable achievement to be introducing his students to archaeology, and his class was afforded opportunities to dig for archaeological artifacts on an old church property. In his post-retirement years, he has spent considerable time as an independent tour director. While teaching, Mr. Vespe contributed a myriad of articles to professional journals and, notably, was featured in a 2013 article by The New York Times, titled “My Other Car is a 1965 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.” In 1975, he further authored “Contemporary Issues in Humanistic Perspective.” To prepare for his career, Mr. Vespe received a BA in social studies fromWilliamPaterson University and anMA in American history fromMontclair State University. Progressing forward with his education, he returned to William Paterson University and earned an MEd and an MA in administration. For his success, he received the Teacher of the Year Award from the State of New Jersey in 1976. VINCENT J. VESPE
