89 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Millennium Magazine Featured Listee David C. Farrar served Beverly High School in Massachusetts throughout the duration of his 50-year career. Joining the high school in 1964, he served as a history teacher specializing in social studies and guidance until his retirement in 2013. During this time, he also excelled in a myriad of other capacities, including as a cross-country and track coach from 1969 to 1990, a class advisor from 1984 to 1987 and again from 1991 to 1994, and a member of the faculty senate from 1991 to 2000. Notably, throughout his career, Mr. Farrar also lent his considerable expertise to the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Boston Globe as a consultant in 1998 and 1999, respectively. Likewise, he developed curriculum workshops and consultant services to the University of KwaZulu in South Africa in 2003 and 2005, which he cites as a highlight of his career. Civically engaged as well, Mr. Farrar served the Diocese of Massachusetts as a regional representative between 1988 and 1994, having also been a campaign worker for the Democratic Party in Beverly, Massachusetts, from 1992 to 1994. Furthermore, he was a member of the Resources and Development Commission from 1992 to 1996 and the Diocesan Council from 1999 to 2005. To prepare for his career, Mr. Farrar pursued a formal education at the University of Maine, where he received a BS in education in 1964. He followed this feat with an MEd from Salem State College in 1968, as well as postgraduate coursework at the University of New Hampshire. He is a certified teacher in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As a testament to his success, Mr. Farrar was named a teaching fellow of the Thomas B. Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University from 1995 to 2005 and a fellow at Rhode Island College in 1992. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year by Beverly High School, as well. He has maintained affiliation with the National Education Association, New England History Teachers Association, Massachusetts and Beverly Teachers Associations, and Massachusetts Track and Field Officials Association.
