Since 2019, Mr. Segreto has excelled as an emergency services program assistant. In addition, he administers driving simulation training to students, as well as to employees of local fire, police and paramedic departments. In 2019, Mr. Segreto and his team earned an award for redesigning the college’s curriculum to coincide with the Fire and Emergency Services in Higher Education program. Outside of his educational endeavors, Mr. Segreto has presented his personal experience with epilepsy, including the process of undergoing epilepsy-related brain surgery. He was named a Distinguished Professional in the field of education and a Great American Educator from Industry Experts Magazine. In addition, he was honored as Inspirational Educator of the Year by the Sterling Registry. Michael Lawrence Segreto believes individuals must remain open during their lives to garner new experiences, new knowledge and new desires. He initially obtained an associate degree from Elgin Community College in 1994, during which he worked as a sales associate for Frank’s Nursery & Crafts. In 1998, he earned a bachelor’s degree in applied geography, with an emphasis on geographic information systems, from Northern Illinois University. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Segreto gained valuable experience working as a mapping technician for the Sidwell Company. He concluded his education in 2006 when he earned a second associate degree in accounting from Elgin Community College. Mr. Segreto commenced his career in education in 2007 when he joined his alma mater, Elgin Community College. He started as an academic support tutor and concurrently served as a business division substitute instructor. In 2010, while pursuing these roles, he became an office administration technology lab assistant.
