221 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Since childhood, Dr. Nusrath M. Habiba has desired to become a physician to help others and aid humankind. Seeking higher education in her native Chennai, India, she attended Stanley Medical College at Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, from which she received a medical degree in 1981. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1999, where she completed an internship in pediatrics and residency in pediatrics at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, Texas, between 2005 and 2008. Notably, she was recognized as chief resident during her third year. Since completing her medical training, Dr. Habiba joined the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2008, first serving as an assistant professor. She subsequently became an associate professor of pediatrics and clerkship director of pediatrics – roles she still maintains today. Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Habiba has served as a founding member of the Academy of Medical Educators, as well as sat on the admissions committee of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Likewise, she has maintained active affiliation with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Pediatrics Society, the Texas Medical Association and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. For her success, Dr. Habiba has received several accolades. From 2013 to 2021, she was selected as Top Doctor by her peers, as well as honored for her service to the Coordinated Program in Dietetics by Texas Christian University every consecutive year between 2014 and 2020. Dr. Habiba has been selected as Valubility of the Year Honoree for 2021. This is the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s highest honor and reserved for recognizing truly extraordinary acts of Valubility that represent the health science center at its best. Dr. Habiba attributes her success to the support of her family, including her grandfather, who has served as a remarkable role model. Her family instilled in her the importance of being a good, helpful individual. Looking forward, she intends to experience the continued growth of her career and maintain involvement in community service through teaching emerging doctors and civilians about health and nutrition.
