Congruent to his professional path, Mr. Averrett presently served as vice president of the board of directors for MAX Credit Union, a board member of the Alabama Energy and Residential Codes Board, and secretary of the board of directors for the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors for the State of Alabama. Prior, he served as president of the board of directors for the Family Sunshine Center and volunteeredhis time for several other philanthropic organizations in Montgomery, Alabama. To attest to his success, Mr. Averrett has earned a myriad of accolades, including the Best of the Best Award for the United States from Engineering News-Record. Drawing upon over 25 years of experience in the field of electrical engineering, John Averrett has excelled with Goodwyn Mills & Cawood as manager of the Electrical Engineering Department and executive vice president since 2006 and 2017, respectively. Earlier in his career, he served for seven years as the founding owner of a consultancy in the electrical engineering industry. Supported by a formative interest in mathematics and science, he decided in his early years to study the engineering discipline and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 1994. Thereafter, he received a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1997. Mr. Averrett is licensed as a Professional Engineer in several U.S. states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Virginia. Furthermore, he is a LEED Accredited Professional through the United States Green Building Council.
