Reber prepared for his illustrious career by enrolling in New York University, from which he received a BS and MS in chemical engineering. After gaining years of experience, he completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. At the inception of his career, Mr. Reber served as an engineer for M.W. Kellogg and, thereafter, joined Union Carbide. He served Union Carbide as a development engineer and rose through the ranks to technology manager over 17 years. Subsequently, he was director of technology for UOP. He then moved to Balchem Corporation as executive vice president, president, chief operating officer and chief executive officer. Post-retirement, he serves as a consultant for various businesses, corporations and independent engineers. Mr. Reber holds several U.S. patents for systems and hardware that have resulted in cleaner air and energy efficiencies. Outside of his career, he has served as commissioner of the Montrose Improvement District since 1970 and has served on the board of directors of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce. He led a team that received the 1977 Kirkpatrick Chemical Engineering Achievement Award. CONSULTANT, CHEMICAL ENGINEER Montrose, NY Passionate about improving the environment, Alexis Perez Saborit once served as a volunteer environmental investigation research in his native Cuba, where he helped local governments reduce pollution through his own research. Traveling to Russia to obtain a higher education, he received a master’s degree in engineering from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1991. Subsequently, he returned to Cuba, where he served the Mariel Utility Department between 1991 and 2013 in such roles as a superintendent, operator, manager, project manager, engineering contractor, plant examiner and director of operations and engineering. During this time, he also served as a volunteer instructor at the University of Havana for three years. Mr. Saborit immigrated to the United States in 2013, relocating to Hallandale Beach, Florida. Since 2014, he has excelled as a water plant operator for the Hollywood Utility Department. Earning a bachelor’s degree in project management from Florida International University in 2020, he has also been certified in utility management. He has maintained membership with the American Society of Civil Engineers. For his success, Mr. Saborit received the National Award for Best Management from the Cuban government.
