To complement his artistic ventures, Mr. Hargis also pursued several other lines of work, such as serving as the scheduling manager for JMC Homes, a contract employee for Robert Half Finance & Accounting, and the president and chief executive officer of Fred Hargis, Inc. Most recently, he was a fixed assets accountant at Nabors Corporate Services between 2008 and 2018. In light of his outstanding undertakings, Mr. Hargis has been recognized extensively in the field. In 1992, he was named on the list of Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans in American Society and Business. Additionally, hewas the only student in the history of SamHouston High School to earn an Outstanding Music Award. Among his several achievements, he is especially proud of performing at the 1992 Republican National Convention and the 1989 Inaugural Ball for former President George H.W. Bush inWashington, D.C. Drawing upon a formative interest and talent in music performance, Fred Olin Hargis Jr. commenced his musical endeavors when he was only 4 years old, having played church hymns on the piano. As he grew older and entered his teenage years, he began listening to and studying several different genres of music, culminating in his enrollment at the University of Houston. At the University of Houston, Mr. Hargis studied commercial and classical music performance and performed under the tutelage of Byron Hester, who was a professor at the university’s School of Music and a principal flutist at the Houston Symphony Orchestra for 40 years. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Hargis studied jazz performance at the University of North Texas. At the inception of his professional career in music, Mr. Hargis served as a band manager and, eventually, the leader of the Buddy Brock Orchestra between 1980 and 1997, a ballroom dance band that had performed at high-profile hotels, country clubs and other prestigious venues across the State of Texas and beyond.
