81 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION was honored with a National Science Foundation fellowship for his doctoral studies, and he received a PhD in biology from Yale University in 1982. During the early stages of his career, Dr. Bradbury worked in a laboratory, but then transitioned to medical education when funding for the laboratory became scarce. After applying to an osteopathic medical school, he was quickly hired and discovered that medical education was well suited for his interests and skill set. While serving in medical education, Dr. Bradbury served the College of Medicine at California Northstate University as a professor of biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics and the chairman of basic sciences between 2015 and 2018. Since departing from that role, he has excelled at A. T. Still University in Missouri as chairman of the department of biochemistry. In his position, he teaches the subjects of biochemistry and genetics to medical students, as well as conducts a myriad of scientific research. Among his research interests, he has investigated the role fatty acid uptake plays in the diagnoses of obesity and hepatic steatosis. Notably, he was among the first to translate his findings into other areas of medicine where fatty acid uptake has been present. To remain abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Bradbury has been a member of the International Association of Medical Science Educators, the Association of Medical and Graduate Departments of Biochemistry, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In accounting for his success, he was honored with the 2020 Outstanding Reviewer Award from the International Association of Medical Science Education. He attributes his success to his hard work and positive outlook on life. Excelling in his classes during high school, Dr. Michael Bradbury was awarded a National Merit scholarship for his undergraduate studies. He enrolled in the Rochester Institute of Technology, from which he earned a BS in biology in 1976.
