During his tenure, he also received a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Cincinnati in 1985, having previously completed coursework at the Maryknoll Seminary. Post-retirement, Mr. Buken has served as a parttime security officer for several years. Outside of his primary ambitions, he also thrived as a clown for the Shrine Circus for 40 years and lent his time as the treasurer for the Masonic Lodge #419, the Symmes Township Historical Society and the Masonic Relief Association. Likewise, he is a treasurer emeritus of the School for Dyslexia and a past dean of Loveland Castle, which he cites as a career highlight. While maintaining Loveland Castle, he cultivated a friendship with Harry D. Andrews, who built the castle in Ohio and served as a tremendous inspiration and mentor to Mr. Buken. Notably, Mr. Buken is a lifetime member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, a 32nd degree Mason and a Royal Arch Mason. He attributes his immense success to the training he received during high school, his seminary years and college. When asked about advice he would provide to aspiring tax professionals, Mr. Buken notes that it is integral to develop excellent people skills and learn how to become more diplomatic. As such, he is exceptionally proud of being the best person and worker he can be during his 40-plus years of career longevity. Looking toward the future, Mr. Buken intends to continue helping and inspiring others through his work in security. He has been married for 50 years and has two sons. D avid T. Inherently interested in the field of finance, he was offered a position by his best friend’s father to join the State of Ohio Tax Department upon his graduation.
