258 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. R. Brandon Stacey joined the faculty of the School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in 2011. First serving as an assistant professor in cardiology, he was subsequently promoted to associate professor in cardiology in 2017, where he remains today. Earlier in his career, Dr. Stacey pursued a formal education at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, where he earned a BS in applied science in 2000. Thereafter, he received an MD from the University of Southern Alabama in 2004. From there, Dr. Stacey completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2005 and 2007, respectively. Following his receipt of an MS from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2009, Dr. Stacey continued his medical training at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he completed a fellowship in cardiology in 2011. For his excellence in his career, he received the Basic Science Teacher of the Year Award in 2017 and 2018, as well as the Clinical Science Teacher of the Year Award in 2019. Dr. Stacey is a fellow of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN CARDIOLOGY Wake Forest University School of Medicine Winston Salem, NC After enduring several sports injuries in his youth, Brett Sulonen spent much time with various physical therapists working toward his recovery. From this interest stemmed his passion for working with athletes in their own injuries and training. He attended the University of Findlay, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in strength and conditioning in 2010 and a master’s degree in athletic training in 2011. The same year, he became a certified athletic trainer. Following this certification, he also received an IMPACT Trainer Certification in 2014. After earning his graduate degree, Mr. SulonenworkedwithLakewood Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine as an athletic trainer between 2011 and 2012. From 2012 to 2022, he excelled as an athletic trainer for P.T. Services Rehabilitation, Inc. Although he has experienced many career achievements, Mr. Sulonen is especially proud of furthering the education of future health care providers within the specialty of sports medicine. He has maintained membership with the National Athletic Trainers Association and Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association.
