218 HEALTH AND WELLNESS Her Grandfather joined for the 1932 New Year’s Day Parade, and her Uncle and Father were also T of R members. She grew up decorating floats for the Rose Parade until she was old enough to join the organization. She followed her Grandfather’s footsteps when she became a Kiwanis member. She now serves as a board member for the Pasadena Kiwanis Club. Jeanie has served with Law Enforcement as a volunteer mounted officer, a disaster communications HAM radio operator, and a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member. As a testament to their success, THE CPR GALS has received several awards since 2014 from the Pasadena Award Program, Best of Pasadena Awards, and Pasadena Small Business Excellence Award. These are listed on their website, www.theCPRgals.com, under Awards. Miss Edwards moved THE CPR GALS to Morgantown, West Virginia, in September 2020. Her passion to serve her new community remains strong. Hailing from a very community-minded family, Jeanie Edwards began serving as a volunteer with the American Red Cross at a young age. As a young adult, she became a CPR instructor with the Red Cross, as well as a disaster services instructor and a national disaster volunteer. She was an emergency medical technician (EMT) for over 20 years. When the Red Cross started to restructure in 2010, Miss Edwards decided to establish her own company to better serve her community as an instructor. THE CPR GALS was founded in 2012 in Pasadena, California, and she excelled as a CPR and First Aid instructor, as well as a Disaster Preparedness instructor and speaker. Miss Edwards also became an instructor with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI). Among the many classes she teaches are Basic CPR and First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pet First Aid and CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and Water Safety. She trains individuals, businesses, and groups of all types. Miss Edwards has always been civically minded. She followed her Grandparents’ example, who were also “Red Crossers.” She is a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
