Kelso is an established leader in the insurance services industry. He is the founder and president of Kelso Risk Management, Inc., a brokerage firm specializing in commercial property and casualty insurance since 1984. In 2007, he sold the company to Integrated Insurance Solutions, and he has continued working in his profession with them ever since. Over the course of his career, Mr. Kelso has proven himself as a leading insurance broker in Washington, D.C., and an expert on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, which protects investors and auditors from fraudulent financial reporting. Prior to beginning his vocational journey, Mr. Kelso pursued a formal education. He first earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in 1975, following by an MBA in international finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University in 1976. Furthermore, he holds an MPS in hotel business management from Cornell University. After completing his collegiate studies and before founding his own company, Mr. Kelso worked as the head of the international desk for Merrill (previously Merrill Lynch) and Marsh McLennan. To remain aware of developments in his industry, he has maintained membership with the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia. In addition, Mr. Kelso is an avid tennis player, and he is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry. In light of his many accomplishments, Mr. Kelso is particularly proud to have managed and written insurance coverage for the accounts of the Multinational Force and Observers, which pertained heavily to the Camp David Accords. This opened many doors and granted him several opportunities to advance in his profession. Furthermore, he is thankful to have founded his own company.
