Serving Brian Sunny Side Up Café for many years, she was subsequently introduced to the hospitality industry. Upon departing from Brian Sunny Side Up Café, Ms. Smart desired to spearhead her own business and, for the past 20 years, has been the owner of Minnie’s Beach Café, Inc., located in Holmes Beach, Florida. Earlier in her career, she served in accounting roles with a plumbing supplies company in Massachusetts. A member of her local Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, Ms. Smart was named the 2021 Person of the Year on the Island in light of her and her business’ success. Additionally, she has received several Trip Advisor Awards beginning in 2000. Among the many highlights of her career, she is especially proud of the support she and her restaurant have received since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, many of her patrons – including others from across the country – have donated funds to help financially support the business. The experience was documented in the Sun newspaper.
