She also recommends legal students to study a myriad of disciplines to understand their own passions. As a testament to her success in the field, Ms. Velarde received recognition from the Professional Organization of Women of Excellence in 2021. In the forthcoming years, she intends to garner a larger office space for her own law firm, including hiring additional lawyers to work alongside her. Furthermore, Ms. Velarde is contemplating entering academia as a law professor, having held a deeply ingrained desire to teach students how to practice immigration law, as well as become more heavily involved with the Immigrants’ Assistance Center.
