262 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS SUSAN MATORIN SENIOR LECTURER OF SOCIAL WORK IN PSYCHIATRY Weill Cornell College of Medicine New York, NY Susan Matorin has established herself as a proven leader and a consummate professional in the field of social work, having accrued over five decades of experience. She currently operates as a senior lecturer for psychiatric social work at the Weill Cornell College of Medicine, instructing and lecturing students on various aspects of her profession. In addition, she also works as a treatment coordinator with the Cornell Psychiatry Intensive Outpatient Program, which she initially joined as a program director in 1997. Furthermore, she is a board member of the Helen Rehr Center for Clinical Practice. Adjacent to her primary responsibilities, Ms. Matorin holds the position of chair of the Lucille Austin Lectureship Committee at the Columbia School of Social Work, a part of Columbia University in the City of New York. In this position, she has overseen lectures regarding homelessness and the rights of women and immigrants, with notable lecturers such as Dahlia Lithwick. To wit, she is particularly proud to have served in this role. Having dedicated much of her life to her profession, Ms. Matorin was the director of social work at the Payne Whitney Clinic in New York from 1981 to 1997, and she functioned as a chief psychiatric social worker for the Columbia University Medical Center between 1978 and 1981 and for the New York State Psychiatric Institute from 1966 to 1978. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Matorin pursued a formal education. She initially studied at Vassar College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1964, and she subsequently attended Columbia University, achieving a Master of Science in social work in 1966. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Matorin is a certified and licensed social worker, officially recognized by the state of New York in 1966. To remain abreast of developments in her field, Ms. Matorin also holds membership with the American Orthopsychiatric Association, the National Association of Social Workers and the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
