50 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT NASREEN HAROON ARTIST Los Angeles, CA At the age of 13, Nasreen Haroon was introduced to artistic expression by means of painting. While living in her home country of Pakistan, she attended a Catholic convent school and underwent oil painting classes that were taught by one of the school’s nuns after-hours. Drawing upon an innate talent in painting, Ms. Haroon impressed her teacher through her utilization of her natural passion for nature, and Ms. Haroon’s father further encouraged her to pursue painting on a serious level. Following her high school graduation, Ms. Haroon attended St. Joseph’s College for Women in Karachi, Pakistan, and subsequently received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, philosophy and history in 1972. Several years after her receipt of her degree, she immigrated to the United States in 1980, where she spearheaded her career across numerous industries all while honing her talents as an artist. Ms. Haroon notes that her early experiences in painting established a foundation of her artistic career, which has been active for over 30 years. Through her artwork, Ms. Haroon creates unique oil paintings that captivate viewers through its interpretation of natural landscapes, as well as abstract paintings that encapsulate the organic beauty of the world. Prior to delving into art on a full-time basis, Ms. Haroon served as an interior designer for the Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica, California, which was an acclaimed and internationally known art deco building that hosted a myriad of celebrity guests. Serving there from 1983 to 1992, Ms. Haroon then embarked upon her professional journey into the art world. Since that point in time, she has displayed her oil paintings across the globe in galleries, venues and other institutions, including such places as the Cultural Palace Museum in Sharjah, the Islamic Art Museum in Dubai, and in the U.S. embassies in Islamabad, Pakistan; Abuja, Nigeria; Algiers, Algeria; Dakar, Senegal; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE); Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Dhaka, Bangladesh. Most notably, Ms. Haroon was appointed as a cultural envoy to the UAE in 2007 and has further educated aspiring artists in master art classes. Likewise, Ms. Haroon was selected to represent the United States as an “American Artist Abroad” in 2008, where she was situated in Algeria.
