She joined the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio in 2008, serving as a senior business coach for one year, followed by a longstanding tenure as the director of the Ohio SBDC. Earlier, Ms. Mixon was a project manager for the Valley Learning Center, operation manager for Citi Group, and vice president of CitiFinancial (formerly known as The Associates). She commenced her career in management as a senior sales representative for Huntington Bank, where she served for four years. Notably, Ms. Mixon is a Growth Wheel certified facilitator and a FastTrac facilitator, and she has held a BS in business administration and finance from The Ohio State University since 1976. Civically involved, Ms. Mixon has sat on numerous boards. Since 2021, she has served on the board of directors of the Ohio Women’s Coalition, having also been recognized as a resource partner of the MetroHealth Supplier Diversity Advisory Council since 2018 and advisory board member of the City of Cincinnati Department of Economic Inclusion Advisory Board since 2016. Moreover, Ms. Mixon is a council member of the WBENC PRO Leadership Council and the HCDC Entrepreneur Assistance Committee, as well as an advocacy partner with the Cleveland Clinic Supplier Diversity Advisory Council. Since 2015, she has been a member of the Kauffman Foundation Advisory Group and, since 2013, a member of the City of Cincinnati Small Business Advisory Council. To honor her successes, Ms. Mixon was named among Top 25 Women in Power Impacting Diversity by DiversityPlusMagazine in 2020, YWCA Career Women of Achievement by the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati in 2019, andWomen of Influence by Lead Tribune Media Group Venue Magazine in 2017. The same year, she was inducted into the Women of Color Foundation Fall of Fame. Drawing upon over 30 years of experience in management, Sheila A. Mixon has excelled as the executive director of WBEC ORV since 2014 and senior vice president of business development and entrepreneurship of the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio since 2012.
