In light of her expertise, Ms. Tupas was hired as a professor at her alma mater from 2010 until 2011. She then pursued her multifaceted career as a marketing communication and public relations specialist for PeopleBrowsr, Inc., in Australia, consultant for Getaround Car-Sharing in San Francisco, co-founder of MrsEverAfter for housewives and mothers like herself and of surf-inclined TropicalSwells, Inc., co-director of the My Shelter Foundation, and volunteer for Every Nation and the Philippine Bible Christian Community. In 2015, she founded School in a Backpack, a gentle parenting and world schooling source for avid travelers such as herself and her son. She also served as a teacher at a homeschooling school in Pasig. Supported by her extensive traveling, Ms. Tupas became a managing editor for Experience Traveling and Living magazine, as well as a writer for Australian-based My Health Mags, before finally flying to the United States in 2017 to be a special education teacher at Whiteriver Unified School District in Arizona. Thereafter, she participated in experiential educationcentered projects involving the White Mountain Apache Tribe community establishments. She was also chosen to present at the National Arts Educators Association Conference in 2021, the Neuroscience in the Classroom Virtual International Conference in 2021, and in 2022, at the Kennedy Center Office of VSA and Accessibility. Currently, Ms. Tupas is pursuing a master’s degree in education management, as well as writing a book on parenting and education, titled “Courage First.” She also intends to compose curricula for schools to enhance learners’ socio-emotional learning, school textbooks and children’s books in the future. As a natural empath, Joahna Lou E. Tupas had initially desired to be a psychologist. She then took her coursework in psychology at De La Salle University in the Philippines, yet shifted to multimedia arts, which she finished under a Bachelor of Arts at the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde in 2005.
