To prepare for her vocational journey, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in American history from Texas Christian University. In accounting for her success, Ms. Simon was named among the Top 100 People in Real Estate Magazine, the Most Influential Women in Texas and one of the Greatest Women of Texas. Furthermore, she was recognized as Businesswoman of the Year by the Texas State Women’s Chamber of Commerce in 2007. Drawing upon over 30 years of experience in brokerage, Karen Leslie Simon has served as the president and managing partner of the Tarrant County division of Emersons Commercial Real Estate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2016. Specializing in office, retail, industrial and land sectors in both leasing and sales, Ms. Simon became involved in her profession in light of her experience as an executive with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she oversaw public relations and intergovernmental relations for a five-state region. After earning her brokerage license, she joined the Henry S. Miller Company (now Grubb & Ellis) in 1982, where she became the very first woman to head a commercial division within the company. In addition, Ms. Simon was recognized as the very first woman in Tarrant County to practice industrial real estate and the first female broker to be the highest industrial producer within the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Following her tenure with Henry S. Miller Company, she served as the president of the R.E.
