251 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Enlisting in the Air Force in 1987, Jeffery Lewis Sain was assigned to the 1923rd Communications Group at Kelly Air Force Base in 1988. Named the Kelly Air Force Base Airman of the Year, he was then transferred to the 49th Fighter Wing at Holloman Air Force Base in 1992. The following year, he served as the American air traffic control liaison for all F-117 operations during Operation Desert Watch in Saudi Arabia. As his career progressed, Mr. Sain was commissioned to join the U.S. Navy in 2000 and, the following year, reported to VF-102 as the material control officer. Following the September 11th attacks, Mr. Sain was deployed on the CVN 71 as part of Carrier Air Wing 1, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, during which time he spent 159 days at sea. Shortly thereafter, he was the assistant maintenance officer, and his squadron transitioned from the F-14B Tomcat to the F/A-18F Super Hornet. Mr. Sain then reported to NAS JRB in WillowGrove, Pennsylvania, as the support equipment officer, power plants division officer and production control officer, as well as reported to the VR-64 in Willow Grove as assistant maintenance officer and maintenance material control officer. In 2010, he reported to VFC-12 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as the assistant maintenance officer, maintenance material control officer and training department head. He retired after 25 years of faithful service in 2013. After his service, Mr. Sain joined HPI-LLC as a technical advisor of business development. Concurrently, he served Dresser-Rand as a field service engineer before joining Merck in 2018 as an operations manager. Serving in this role for two years, he was promoted to manager of engineering in 2020 and associate director of engineering in 2021 – where he remains today. He holds a BS in professional aeronautics and an MA in aviation/aerospace operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. Sain has been awarded several Air Force Achievement and Commendation Medals and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals. His squadron was honored with the 2011 McCampbell Trophy, recognizing them as the Naval Reserve Aviation Squadron of the Year.
