396 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Fueled by his interests in heritage and art, David C. Haneman excels in his role as the president of Rivertownes PA USA, a nonprofit historical organization formed in 2002. In his role for the past eight years, he has been dedicated to improving river towns while encouraging art, heritage and recreational efforts throughout various towns in Pennsylvania, including Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville. Likewise, he works alongside several board members and collaborates with various organizations from York and Lancaster Counties to support the efforts of the nonprofit. Among his accomplishments since joining the nonprofit, Mr. Haneman has become involved with the 10-year restoration of the Musselman-Vesta Iron Furnace Center, a historic building within the Chickies Historic District Furnace Complex. He has also assisted in the collaboration of replacing all lights on the mile-long bridge that crosses the Susquehanna between Wrightsville and Columbia. Through PennDOT, they currently have replicas of the original cast iron lights. Finding vast success in his endeavors, Mr. Haneman and the Rivertowne board members were the recipient of two Pennsylvania Preservation Awards, one of which applauded the organization's work in the restoration of the Musselman-Vesta Iron Furnace office building. Additionally, in 2019, he received a Pennsylvania Council of Social Studies Award for Best Program in the State of Pennsylvania, which lauded educational programs implemented at the Musselman-Vesta Iron Furnace Center. Mr. Haneman has also earned accolades for his work as a pen and ink artist. At the inception of his professional journey, Mr. Haneman earned a bachelor’s degree in divinity from Lancaster Bible College in 1974 and holds several industrial certifications in such areas as troubleshooting, training and equipment. He was previously employed by the manufacturing company Mars, Inc., for 27 years and continues to hold membership with Lions Club International and his local church. Looking forward, Mr. Haneman hopes to render the Musselman-Vesta Iron Furnace Center's building and facility more accessible to the citizens of Marietta. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee DAVID C.
