Thereafter, he became a registered union electrician in 1984 following a four-year apprenticeship program and on-thejob training efforts. Commencing his very first company in 1986, he notably performed a myriad of duties, including construction for residential, commercial and light industrial construction for electrical purposes. Remaining in his role for a decade, he cultivated a deep understanding with hands-on application of building construction. Registered as a professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Mr. Etzel also led many efforts in electrical design for commercial, health care and technological projects, where he served as lead designer and engineer. As the owner of Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc., he has completed more than 800 million dollars’ worth of design and construction for 20-plus clients across the United States. To remain abreast of developments in the field, Mr. Etzel has maintained affiliation with such organizations as the Design-Build Institute of America, the Engineer’s Society of Western Pennsylvania and the Construction Management Association of America. He previously completed coursework at Pennsylvania State University in electrical engineering review and architectural lighting basics, as well as served XL Insurance and the Construction Estimating Institute in loss prevention and project management, respectively. Looking toward the future, Mr. Etzel intends to ease into a well-deserved retirement within the next 10 years. However, before retiring, he would like to continue expanding Etzel Engineer and Build, Inc., and start conducting volunteer work in his own community.
