318 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Following her high school graduation, Rose Thomas Crawford enlisted in the National Guard, where she earned the Most Outstanding Soldier award in her platoon from the U.S. Army. Following her departure from military service, Ms. Crawford was encouraged to enter the field of health care and joined Piedmont Walton Hospital, where she has since served as a staff and respiratory therapist. Now drawing upon over 45 years of excellence in her industry, Ms. Crawford is noteworthy for being the very first African American woman in this role at Piedmont Walton Hospital. Ms. Crawford holds an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Athens Technical College, through which she was celebrated as an Outstanding Student while earning her degree. Among the many highlights of her career, she is especially proud of saving the lives of many at the hospital, particularly throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also dedicated civically to her community as a marathon runner with the Lasell Marathon, mentor, business owner of Rose’s Beauty Supply & Service, and licensed minister, Ms. Crawford intends to enter a well-deserved retirement in the forthcoming years and travel across the globe. STAFF THERAPIST Piedmont Walton Hospital Loganville, GA Since 1982, Dr. Vincent Justus Felitti has served as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California San Diego and, concurrent to this role, as president of the California Institute of Preventive Medicine. A former physician with Kaiser Permanente, where he spent 50 years, he was instrumental in the development of the preventive medicine department. Much of his research and practice focused on obesity in patients, leveraging innovative technologies that enabled patients to lose as much as 300 pounds in one year. During this time, Dr. Felitti liaised with the CDC, who acknowledged his findings of a correlation between childhood sexual abuse and obesity, known as the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study. Dr. Felitti received his MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Throughout his career, he has been cited in over 38,000 scientific articles in 151 journals across the globe. His ACE data has been collected by the World Health Organization and has been utilized by the U.S. Congress to design 23 pieces of legislature to support the ACE into medical practice. Dr. Felitti has received a myriad of accolades for his pioneering work.
