As part of her dedication in the field, she also remains affiliated as a board member with the National Coalition in Support of Eurasian Jewry (formerly known as the National Conference on Soviet Jewry). Throughout her career, Ms. Israel has been especially proud to serve and help others in the field of politics. Having grown up in a politically involved family, as her parents were political journalists, she has always been determined to make a difference. To this end, working on several political campaigns and with several notable organizations has allowed her numerous opportunities to do so. Since retiring, Ms. Israel has been focused on enjoying a fulfilling and productive life alongside her family. that are significantly connected to the heritage of U.S. citizens. She has continued to serve with the Commission since she was first appointed in 2016. Furthermore, in 1990, Washington Magazine named Ms. Israel as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women, and she received a Special Service Award from the Jewish Community Center in 1984.
