In her esteemed position, she leads a cross-functional team that supports project management for the company, including engineering, project controls, quality management and construction. She presently draws upon over 15 years of experience in the power utility industry. Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Meeks maintains civic affiliation with underprivileged communities across the State of Michigan, having harnessed a passion for helping the youth. She has also lent her time and expertise to students within the STEM fields and conducts demonstrations in schools regarding the power utility industry. As a testament to her success, she earned an accolade from the Women of Color STEM organization in 2020 and was selected as one of the few participants for a two-year senior leadership development project by Consumers Energy in 2011. Looking forward, Ms. Meeks intends to develop the project management department under her leadership. Supported by an early love for the sciences, Corietta M. Meeks first attended a college preparatory high school, in which she developed her interest in engineering. After her high school graduation, she attended the Lawrence Technological University and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by a master’s degree in construction engineering management. Ms. Meeks also holds a second master’s degree in project management from George Washington University and has been certified by the Project Management Institute and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. At the inception of her career in 2003, Ms. Meeks served as a resource specialist assistant for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Subsequently, she joined DTE Energy in 2004, where she excelled as an engineer technologist for four years. Following this tenure, Ms. Meeks joined Consumers Energy in Essexville, Michigan, in 2008, where she remains today.
