Through his business, Dr. Menser has contracted several large construction sites, including Weis Builders Construction Co. and Michuda Construction Co., as well as worked with and trained students at the Harvey Police Department and Illinois Auxiliary Police Department. Dr. Menser attended Trinity Southern University, earning a BSBA and an MS in criminal justice. He graduated summa cum laude from Suffield UniversitywithaPhD incriminal justice. Hehas also servedasa teacher in theCityof ChicagoatMalcolm X Colleges and authored “The Professional Private Investigator Training Manual” in 2013. Dr. Menser received annual recognitions from the City of Chicago Council Alderman 34th Ward Carrie M. Austin in 2006 and from the County Clerk of Cook County, Illinois, David D. Orr in 2005 and Chicago Awards for Best Security Guard and Patrol Service between 2012 and 2019. Dr. James D. Menser’s childhood dream was to become a private detective, having been influenced by various investigative television shows. Beginning in 1975, he completed a security officer’s training course and served as a store detective at A&P Groceries in Chicago. In 1977, Dr. Menser desired to become a firearms instructor and, subsequently, joined the National Rifle Association to become a basic firearms educational instructor. Thereafter, he attended the Law Enforcement Academy in Springfield, Illinois. Following his graduation, he served the Statesville Correctional Facility as a correctional officer. In 1990, Dr. Menser was licensed to teach by the state of Illinois and, subsequently, opened M&M Enterprises, Inc., in Chicago, where he taught firearms and security officer training courses. In 1995, he was then licensed in alcohol, tobacco and firearms and commenced his second business, the Menser Gun Shop, through which he sold firearms ammunition and repaired weapons. Following this tenure, he became a personal bodyguard for David Horowitz of Northwestern University in 2005 and, the following year, founded Menser Security JAMES D.
