388 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SCIENCES, PHARMACEUTICALS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY A clinical researcher of nearly two decades, Valerie Yolanda Carvajal currently excels as the associate director of USMA clinical research for Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Since 2020, she has led their diversity, community and clinical trials and has updated their investigator-initiated research assessment form to include a questionnaire for new protocol concepts on patient population diversity. In turn, this ensures that health care providers are taking into consideration traditionally underrepresented groups in their studies, which went live in the United States in February 2022. Earlier, Ms. Carvajal served in varying clinical roles with Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, Shionogi, Inc., Novartis and Hoffmann-La Roche. Notably, in 2019, she was the recipient of a Portfolio Prioritization Achievement Award from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. To prepare for her career, Ms. Carvajal earned a BS in biological sciences, with a concentration in microbiology, from Cornell University in 2007 and an MS in clinical research administration from Walden University in 2012.
