121 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION has held the title of professor emeritus of art. Adjacent to his primary responsibilities, Mr. Maldre also served as an adult and children’s photography teacher at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago between 1973 and 2008. Prior to beginning his professional journey, Mr. Maldre pursued his own formal education. After initially earning a Bachelor of Arts in design from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1969, he achieved a Master of Science in photography from the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1972. While beginning his career as an educator, Mr. Maldre also began honorably serving with the United States Army Reserve as a member of the Signal Corps in 1972, achieving the rank of captain before retiring in 1980. Over the course of his career, Mr. Maldre’s photography has appeared in numerous creative works, including “A Field Guide to the Griffins in America” in 2014, “The Chicago Bungalow” in 2003 and “The Griffins in Australia and India” in 1998. Furthermore, he is especially proud to have authored his 1995 book, titled “Walter Burley Griffin in America.” To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he won the First Place Award for Photography at the 8th Annual International Architecture Book Awards in 1997. His work has been included in the collections and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Illinois State Museum. Throughout his career, Mr. Maldre has been well regarded as a consummate professional, a hardworking teacher and photographer, and a steadfast preserver of architecture. He attributes much of his success to his tenacity and passion. In the near future, Mr. Maldre hopes to continue pursuing his love of photography and sharing it with the world. H aving cultivated an accomplished career of over five decades, Mati Maldre is a proven leader in the field of education. In 1972, he began working in the department of art and design at Chicago State University, instructing and lecturing students in design and photography.
