Likewise, for more than 10 years, Mr. Everett served as a volunteer fundraiser for East Central Community College from 2003 to 2016, having been president of their alumni board in 2011. In accounting for his success, Mr. Everett credits the mentorship he received from several individuals within the Social Security Administration, including John Cook, who was the director of the Disability Determination Services for the State of Mississippi. To prepare for his pronounced career, Mr. Everett received an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from East Central Community College in 1964. The community college later honored him with the Alumnus of the Year Award in 2021. Following his receipt of his associate degree, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Mississippi State University in 1966, a Master of Science in vocational rehabilitation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975 and a Master of Science in public administration from Georgia State University in 1977. To attest to his laudable success in the field, Mr. Everett has been bestowed with a myriad of accolades. To note, he earned Recognition Awards for Outstanding Service from the Educational Employees Credit Union between 1979 and 1987 and Appreciation for Service Awards from the Mississippi Department of Human Services Credit Union between 1987 and 1997. He also received a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service from the Southeast Association of Disability Examiners in 1982, as well as a Service Award plaque for 15 years of service. Looking forward, Mr. Everett intends to continue his community service endeavors, which includes volunteering and maintaining active affiliation with his local church. Equipped with over 30 years of expertise in the fields of human resources and consulting, Jerald Preston Everett retired from the Social Security Administration as a human resources consultant, where he served for 34 years.
