In her dual roles, Dr. Pérez Colón specializes as a physician and teacher, providing patients with pulmonology and critical care services, as well as educating students in the methods of her practice. Throughout her career, Dr. Pérez Colón’s goal has been to provide excellent service, with the approach of treating each of her patients like family. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a doctor, having always loved science and being able to help others. Prior to fulfilling her current positions, Dr. Pérez Colón pursued her own formal education. In addition to earning an MD, she completed several residency and fellowship programs with Hospital Damas and the San Juan VA Medical Center between 1997 and 2004, which allowed her to gain firsthand experience and learn more about her vocation. Well regarded for her contributions in the field, Dr. Pérez Colón has earned several awards and commendations, including the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Ponce Mayor’s Office in 2008 and several Academia Honors in 2008, 2009 and 2015. Furthermore, as part of her commitment to her profession, Dr. Pérez Colón maintains membership with several industryrelated organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Physicians Inc., and the Puerto Rico Medical Association. In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Pérez Colón is the only doctor in her family. She hopes to be remembered for her good deeds and to make her family proud — especially her supportive mother, to whom she attributes much of her success. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue helping others and working with her patients for as long as she is able. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Lisandra Pérez Colón has proven herself as an expert in the field of health care.
