At the inception of his career in 2008, he was a volleyball and track and field coach, as well as a middle school mathematics and technology teacher, at Hays Unified School District 489. To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Adams pursued a formal education at Fort Hays State University, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in business education in 2008 and a master’s degree in educational leadership in 2012. Notably, he also received an EdD in educational leadership from Kansas State University in 2018 and holds certifications as a history, mathematics and business teacher. Moreover, Dr. Adams is certified in building leadership and district leadership. He is a member of the American Association of School Administrators, United School Administrators of Kansas and Kansas School Superintendents’ Association. He has been an advisory board member of Leadership Kansas. Supported by 15 years of excellence in education and academic administration, Dr. Kellen J. Adams has excelled as the superintendent of Chanute Public Schools in Kansas since 2019. As the superintendent, he is responsible for supervising over 1,900 students and 400 staff members among five different instructional centers, as well as managing personnel, budgeting and collaborating with the local board of education. Congruent to this path, Dr. Adams is the owner of Midwest Timing and Results LLC, a track and cross country timing company. He and his team provide exceptional timing services for various junior high and high schools, as well as colleges, for track and cross country teams. They also administer the full results of each sports event. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, Dr. Adams has likewise served as an adjunct instructor for the Building Leadership Program at Fort Hays State University. Earlier in his career, he was an esteemed educator and educational administrator, having served as an assistant superintendent at El Dorado Public Schools from 2016 to 2019 and a prekindergarten through 12th grade principal at Logan Unified School District KELLEN J.
