275 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS holding positions as adjunct clinical faculty with six universities and as a retail pharmacist and pharmacy consultant for SuperSave Drug and Home IV Care. In the early 1990s, Dr. Brokaw worked as a patient care area pharmacist with Inova Fairfax Hospital Health Systems, where she completed her residency, and as a staff pharmacist at DeWitt Army Community Hospital within Fort Belvoir, where she earned a Commendation for Performance. Earlier, Dr. Brokaw was a pharmacist at Waldo General Hospital and the Seattle Indian Health Board Medical Clinic and pharmacy director at Kodiak Island Medical Center in Alaska. Upon reflection, she appreciated the opportunity to be involved with the Alaska Pharmaceutical Association to represent Southcentral Alaska, in which she helped to develop their first newsletter that had accredited continuing education for state pharmacists. Additionally, she is honored to have been the recipient of a Gold Star Award for Quality Management from Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in 2002 and named Alaska Hospital Pharmacist of the Year by the Alaska Pharmaceutical Association in 1988. Besides making strides in her field by maintaining the highest standards of practice, Dr. Brokaw believes she became successful by keeping an open mind, a philosophy that allowed her to see other perspectives and create beneficial compromises. Motivated by the understanding that their opinions are as valuable as her own, she embraced a team approach when working with colleagues. Matriculating at the University of Washington, Dr. Brokaw earned a bachelor’s degree in botany and zoology in 1974 and a PharmB in 1979. Later, she achieved a master’s degree in religious education from Loyola University New Orleans in 1999 and a PharmD from Idaho State University in 2001. Accruing over 50 years of experience, Dr. Kathryn Marie Brokaw excelled as a clinical pharmacist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Gig Harbor, Washington, from 2008 until her retirement in 2021. Prior, she was a clinical coordinator at HCA Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, also DR.
