104 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION instrumental music teacher for Independent School District 196 in Rosemount, Minnesota, and as a fifth grade instrumental music teacher in Apple Valley and Eagan, Minnesota. Likewise, he has been the brass choir director for the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church since 2015. Dr. Becker maintains membership with the International Trombone Association, National Association for Music Education, Minnesota Music Educators Association and Minnesota Band Directors Association. In his time outside of teaching, he has also lent his expertise to several recordings, including “Christmas Day, My Favorite Day” and “Hill Spell.” Dr. Becker received an HP scholarship to Rice University, where he was a finalist at the American Trombone Workshop Competition. He was also a finalist for the International Trombone Association Competition and earned the Steve Switzer Memorial Award from the Eastman Community Music School. Surrounded by music from a formative age, Dr. Joshua A. Becker was accustomed to watching his father play the trombone. Deciding he wanted to delve into music from the eighth grade, Dr. Becker was equally inspired by his middle school band teachers, who taught him how to play music in the same school district he teaches in the present day. Pursuing a formal education in music, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and received a Bachelor of Music in 2008. Following this accomplishment, he earned a Master of Music in orchestral performance from Rice University in 2012 and a DMA in trombone performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in 2015. Following his receipt of his master’s degree, Dr. Becker served the Eastman Community Music School as a low brass teaching intern. He subsequently served Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 as a band director at Edward D. Neill and Vista View Elementary Schools from 2015 to 2016, as well as Eagle RidgeMiddle School as a band and orchestra director from 2016 to 2017. Since 2017, Dr. Becker has excelled as an JOSHUA A.
