Furthermore, she studied quality control in Tokyo, Japan, for approximately three months. In 1991, after discovering that industrial design companies did not exist in Mexico, Ms. Cadena founded an industrial packaging design studio, titled Moldart. Serving Moldart in Mexico as the owner and consultant, she has since excelled as an industrial designer for The Ultraquimia Group. Among the many highlights of her career, she is exceptionally proud of succeeding as a woman in what is typically known as a male-dominated field. Not only did she build her own business, but she has thrived in her executive-level and design positions within the United States. Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Cadena has been involved with several ministries within her local church and was appointed a chairperson of the pastoral council of her parish to support Hispanic communities. She is equally gratified by her voluntary civic and religious achievements in light of her church. Through her efforts, the church has witnessed a steady increase in the number of Hispanic individuals who attend her parish and participate in organization events. As a testament to her success, Ms. Cadena has received a myriad of accolades. She twice received the WorldStar Packaging Award from the World Packaging Organization in Beijing, China, in 1995 and in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 2001. Additionally, she received the National Packaging Award from Mexico on three separate occasions in 1995, 2001 and 2002. Looking toward the future, Ms. Cadena intends to witness the continued growth and success of her career. She also would like to write a book about environmentally friendly packaging in the forthcoming years. Maria Gabriela Avila Cadena was first exposed to the packaging industry by her father, who previously worked for a large international company titled Imperial Chemical Industries. Immediately fascinated by the field, Ms. Cadena sought to enter the field herself.
