AUTHOR Merrillville, IN An expert in the structural adhesive industry and an honored combat veteran, Vernon J. Gregory Jr. has found success throughout the multiple avenues of his career progression. At the inception of his journey, he served honorably in the United States Army from July 1970 to July 1976 during the Vietnam War. Following his service, Mr. Gregory is a lifetime member of such organizations as Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America. He earned such accolades as the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal with V Device with Numeral 2, Bronze Star Medal, Army Aviation Aircraft Crewman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, National Defense Service Medal, and Unit Awards and Citations issued by the Republic of Vietnam. He also received the Cross of Gallantry with Palm Citation Badge, Civil Actions Honor Medal and First Class Unit Citation Badge. Mr. Gregory received the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Silver Star, a foreign individual award issued by the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Prior to his military service, Mr. Gregory earned an associate degree in electrical engineering from Thornton Community College in Harvey, Illinois, in 1970. Keeping his momentum upon earning this accomplishment, he worked as a truck driver for 14 years until becoming the owner of Illinois Adhesive Bonding, Inc. During the course of his 30year tenure as a business owner, Mr. Gregory has repaired and saved many structures from collapse or failure. Currently, his children, Daniel and Jill, are at the helm of the business, and Mr. Gregory’s wife helped run the business prior to her death in 2013. Likewise, he has been the sole provider for several major contractors and institutions, with his knowledge proven beneficial to engineers and architects alike. Notably, he has been recognized as the first in overall sales for 10 years in a row and considered the foremost authority on the structural repair of cracks in concrete in the Midwest, receiving calls from engineers from different parts of the United States.
