291 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS graduated with an MD in 1994. Today, Dr. Hulbert is board certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Hulbert began her career serving on active duty as a physician in the United States Navy. Dedicated to her profession via academia, she also taught as an associate professor of family medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin for many years. During this time, she ran one of the early clinical courses, which allowed her to touch base with over 100 medical students. Likewise, she led one of their first clinical examination classes, providing students with their first exposure to family medicine. While teaching at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Hulbert realized that she desired to dive deeper into rural medicine. She was one of the only family doctors who was delivering babies at the main hospital for two years, and she took advantage of the opportunity when it arose. As a physician with ThedaCare since 2020, she is thrilled to have two rural clinics that allow her to conduct hospital patient rounds, provide obstetric and pediatric care, and deliver comprehensive outpatient clinic services. Between witnessing the struggles patients have with mental health and the limited access to specialists and other medical resources in a rural setting, Dr. Hulbert hopes to be able to expand her practice by offering different treatment options and connecting patients to the best possible care. She is currently in the process of navigating her aspiration. Outside of her primary endeavors, she volunteers as the medical director of the Marquette County Department of Health. In her spare time, she enjoys the arts, crocheting, cooking, and raising sheep and alpacas. From watching her mother flourish as a nurse, Dr. Karen A. Hulbert developed an interest in the medical field and became drawn to the idea of helping individuals overcome obstacles in relation to their health and well-being. Following her childhood dreams, she attended the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science and KAREN A. HULBERT, MD PHYSICIAN ThedaCare Neshkoro, WI
