He was featured in “Bye Bye Birdie” with TomPoston and Patti Finley at the Seattle Opera House. Thereafter, he was granted a Ford Foundation scholarship to the San Francisco Ballet Company, where he partnered with Ann Reinking and was cast by Gower Champion to understudy Harvey Evans as Barnaby Tucker in the Tony Award-winningmusical “Hello Dolly” with Carol Channing, which opened the first season of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles—all before his 18th birthday. After a two-year national tour that included a command performance at the Lyndon Johnson White House, Mr. Christopher moved to New York City in 1967. He is especially proud of being the original choreographer and assistant director to Pete Masterson on the famed Actors Studio production of “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.” Mr. Christopher is also archived in Lincoln Center and at the Jerome Robbins Foundation as the co-founder and original artistic director/ choreographer of the pioneering Infinity Dance
