75 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT Millennium Magazine Featured Listee DEAF EDUCATOR AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST (RETIRED), AUTHOR St. Georges, Bermuda SONJA DARLENE WELLS Instilled with the values of positivity and faith, Sonja Darlene Wells excelled as a deaf educator and school psychologist in Texas and Tennessee. She worked in the private sector as a marketer for Family Interventions, Inc., in Clear Lake, Texas, before returning to the public schools. She was a school psychologist in Blount County Schools in Tennessee from 1996 until her retirement in 2013. Following her retirement, Ms. Wells has dedicated her time fully to writing as an award-winning author. In 2016, she published “No Accidents,” followed by her 2020 work, “Destination by Way of Life.” For her achievements, she won first placement in Bermuda’s short story contest in the adult age category in 2018 and again in 2020. Ms. Wells earned a BS in deaf education from the University of Tennessee. She taught deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Texas. In 1987, she received anMA in behavioral science and school psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. The recipient of an award for behavioral interventions from the Texas City Independent School District, Ms. Wells is especially proud of her work with both hearing and deaf students, as well as their parents and teachers through counseling and behavioral strategies. Drawing upon more than 25 years of experience in authorship, Deirdre Allen Timmons is an established writer and director. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Smith College in 1990, Ms. Timmons began her career as a writer with The Bulletin, a local newspaper in Brussels, Belgium. After returning to the United States, she continued to expand her skillset, eventually branching out into screenwriting and filmmaking. To date, Ms. Timmons has authored such books as “Brain Candy: A Memoir” and directed two films, including “A Wink and a Smile: The Art of Burlesque” and “Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker.” As a testament to her success, Ms. Timmons was recognized as the Best Director at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards. In addition to her primary vocation, she also regularly volunteers with local organizations assisting homeless individuals. She is especially proud of her memoir, which details her battle against brain cancer. In the near future, Ms. Timmons looks forward to publishing additional books, adapting more scripts into films and coaching others on the writing process.
